momversation--minding your own business

So, my favorite blogger, Rebecca Woolf is a part of a video chat blog called Momversation.  Click on the title of this post to check it out.  Today's momversation is awesome--it is about minding your own business!  They discuss when it is, or isn't ok to give advice to other parents and why.

I love it  b/c the bottom line is, if it isn't solicited, and i doesn't directly affect you, and if no one is in danger, then why do we want to get wrapped up in other people's decisions. . . ?  As long as we are all safe and happy-- you do it your way, and I'll do it my way. . . that is the jist of it, and I love that jist.

BTW--still awaiting baby Magill. . . .so I'm at home with some extra vacation time to burn, just wondering when this little boy is going to make his grand entrance.  Wish us luck!

I made HolaLola!

Seriously, my sister-in-law, Amy, writes a hilarious blog chronicling her life as a new mom and a driven, successful, working woman.

I was so excited to headline today's post on HolaLola that I screamed out to my husband, "I made the blog!".  So fun.

Check it out at holalolaruth.blogspot.com

My fave current reading

My sister-in-law just introduced me to Crabmommy--the mom blog that is hilarious.  We all need to laugh a little in preparation for parenthood and this blog helps.

My current favorite blog is Girls Gone Child--Rebecca Woolf is amazing.  I'm also reading her book Rockabye and really enjoying it. . . she is young, she is funky, and she is determined to be herself, and is in total love with her family.  I highly recommend her writing for comic relief and for realizing you aren't crazy.

Finally, I have been scoping out Babble.com--I can't decide if I find it useful or not. . . I like the idea of an online community of young families. . . sort of.  But it might be a bit much. . . I'll let you know what I think again in a couple of weeks.

Still waiting on baby boy Magill--could be anytime I suppose.  I'm 38 weeks now and we are as ready as we'll ever be. . . whatever that means!

Jerry and me

So we went to the doctor today to check in on Jerry (Jerry is not really his name, but we like to call him that. . . atleast for the next 4 weeks).  Jerry is due December 13th, and our time being literally inseparable is coming to a close.  How strange will that be!?!

Jerry is breech, and I've been playing the Jayhawks for him this evening to try to stimulate a super flip.  We shall see.  I hope it is just because he is stubborn like me, that he is not getting into prime positions. ..either way--Jerry will be here soon, and we will have to choose a real name to reflect who he is and what he means to us. . . no pressure!

gone to the cheese fest

Both my husband and myself grew up in small towns.  Ben is from Weatherford, OK and I'm from Baird, TX.  We wouldn't trade it for anything, and although we lead a different lifestyle now, we still like to go home. . . some things just don't happen in the city the way they do in a small town--for instance, the last time we tested it, you could send an envelope in the mail with only my parent's name, the town, and the zip code an it would be delivered.  And most recently, we passed by a downtown storefront while visiting the Magill's in Oklahoma and this is what we saw taped to the door (on a Saturday!); "We are at the Cheese Fest in Watonga -Wendy"  How awesome is that?  Seriously--I love it, and it makes me laugh and miss the old days when the Night Watchman would report that to my parents that I missed my curfew. . .
